Product Review; Trilane Retinol+Vitamin C Moisturizer by Healthy Directions

Sponsered Post

In a nutshell, Trilane Retinol+Vitamin C Moisturizer is a powerhouse of retinol minus the harshness. Visibly reduces signs of aging for more luminous, brighter skin. It gives you everything original. Combines age-fighting and skin-renewing antioxidants to leave your skin firmer for a more radiant, youthful glow. It smoothes and evens out skin texture, speeds turnover of skin cells, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, protects your skin from environmental damage, diminishes brown spots, and minimizes and unclogs pores, all while being gentle enough for everyday use.

My personal experience with this product has been pretty good. Having combination skin has always been a challenge and adding to that challenge is the dryness I’ve had to face as a price for using Retinol based products in my skincare regimen. Thankfully, this moisturizer has been a life saver in that regard.

The most interesting thing about it is its thin, almost face oil like consistency which made it easy to apply and made it last way longer than I had expected. Plus you don’t have to deal with the weird tightened sensation on your skin that comes after applying a Vitamin C or Retinol serum since it’s a moisturizer. A few pumps go a long way, which is great because my only serious issue with this product has been its price.

Its lightweight, non greasy and unscented, making it convenient to wear under makeup. Other than hydrating my skin, I didn’t really see it make too much of a difference but it was quite helpful in making my pores smaller as well as somewhat reducing the appearance of dark spots due to the Vitamin C, but it’s definitely a good investment if you’re a mid to late twenties something looking for preventative anti aging skin care that doesnt dry out your skin.
Overall I give this product a solid 6 out of 10.

Product Review; 100% Pure Radha Argan Oil by Radha Beauty

Sponsered Post

yWyJncRuquZRhV5co3AS_Argan Oil

Discover 100% Pure Radha Argan Oil that naturally freshens, hydrates and softens dry skin, it also repairs and beautifies hair, from roots to split-ends and improves scalp health.  Infused with nutrients and antioxidants that make the skin soft and fights against the loss of elasticity and firmness. Strengthens brittle, cracked, nails and softens cuticles. The amazing gold of Morocco can be used as a topical ointment for medicinal and therapeutic purposes to soothe the irritated skin of infants, for various skin ailments, and to protect against skin infections. It was also used in traditional cuisine. It is first cold pressed to ensure the best quality, highest-grade oil. Unscented, Lightweight & pure for the ultimate healthy glow.

I was recently given the opportunity to test out the benefits of this product for my review. First, the thing that I liked most about Radha Argan Oil was the subtle fragrance instead of the over bearing custard-like smell one usually expects out of Argan Oil. Secondly, I loved how well it worked as a frizz controller on those bad hair days. Doubles as a leave in deep conditioner too, leaving the hair silky and touchable the next morning. Although one bottle wasn’t enough for too many root to tip applications, (In its defense, I do wear my hair well past the usual mid back length) I did find my hair in better overall shape after the first two or three uses.

Moving on to the skin department, I’m not exactly fond of using oils on my face but I did use this product on my heels, elbows, knees as well as my hands and found that it makes for a good moisturizer for those extra dry spots. I would not recommend it for full body use however, given that it is not quite absorbable enough with its thick consistency and might leave you with a sticky sensation.
All in all a very reasonable product for a reasonable price. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Product Review; KISS InstaWave

No longer do we need a professional to style our hair to perfection. Instantly create beautiful, long-lasting curls with just the touch of a button with the KISS InstaWave, a fully automatic tangle-free curler from KISS Hair Appliances.  Easy for anyone to use, from any angle, with any hand. Features a Curl Dial with left/right curl directions. Automatically shuts off after 90 minutes and offers 2 heat settings with a low/high switch with maximum temperature of 420.

inswave

As you can see, on the left we have plain crinkled up hair, tired of being twisted up in a bun and on the right a fabulous head of curls. I used a heat resistant serum as well as some leave in conditioner before using the Instawave by the way. Do keep in mind that I prefer more tousled, looser curls so that is why my waves are not as prominent as those featured on the box.

instawave-features

What I really love about this product is that its dual directional switch allows you to hold it with any hand to get the kind of curl you desire. No longer do you have to suffer from cramped shoulders while getting ready in the morning nor does it require the guesswork involved in wrapping your hair on a curling rod. Just place an end on the curl dial and let InstaWave do the work for you. You can easily switch between curling right and curling left to create the most natural looking curls.

The KISS InstaWave retails at about $59.99 at KISSinstawave.com. This is the official site that will allow you to purchase this product from either Target, Ulta, or Amazon.

20140814_002308

For my review, i was given a chance to sample the Up All Night collection which included ‘Na na na’ an aqua blue metallic chrome nail varnish, ‘Little black dress’ volumizing mascara in perfectly black, ‘Taken liquilights glow gloss’ a powerhouse glitter pink lipgloss that glows to neon orange under UV light, ‘Stand up’ dark denim eye and body crayon, ‘I should have kissed you’ bubblegum pink creme lipstick and 4+1 eye shadow palette in playful blues and versatile neutrals: ‘More than this’ soft blushing pink, ‘Gotta be you’ silvered taupe shimmer, ‘Save you tonight’ shimmering turquoise blue, ‘Another world’ royal blue shimmer and ‘Up all night’ sapphire glitter creme along with a 5 piece decorator stencil set all pictured below.

Now for my review. When i first got this package in the mail i was disappointed to find that the item i looked forward to the most, i.e the bubblegum lipstick, was broken. However, i googled some tricks and was able to fix it in a way that it could be used. The lipstick is a very rich, pigmented, vibrant shade and though i wouldnt use it much in real life it could be good for a cosplay should i decide to dress up as Barbie. It has some trouble gliding on to the lips but has a long lasting color. The mascara works great. Enough to give the illusion of falsies should you use it after a lash curler, albeit its a bit clumpy which can be solved if you leave it in a cup of arm water for about 3 minutes.

face2

The eye shades are ordinary at best and you might need to use an eye primer to make them pop with the exception of ‘Save you tonight’ the turquoise shimmer which is absolutely beautiful. The products that really manage to stand out here would be the dark denim eye crayon, the liquilights lip gloss and the nail varnish. I have been using the denim crayon every day since i got it for an instant wake up look under my lower lash line and its been great so far. The lipgloss is non sticky and pigmented nicely despite being shimmery and though i havent had a chance to see it turn neon orange under UV lights its been doing a great job under regular lighting. I gave away the stencils to the younglings to play with for its not really something i had much use for.
All in all i give this product a 7 out of 10.

Product Review; H2O Sea Results day & night perfecting peel

20140515_033258

Today’s product review is set to feature H2O’s day and night skin perfecting peel. After my wonderful experience with NaturalSkin Shop’s Jessner peel, i had definitely become a skin peel enthusiast. Though Jessner peel’s work is never short of fabulous, there’s only one down side to it. You have to wait a week for the treated skin to shed off completely and you are pretty much trapped in the house, hiding from the sun trying not to give your sensitive skin a burn. In trying to find a solution i came across this every day use peel on the H2O plus website. According to the brand, this product is a highly efficient liquid peel designed to tenderly refine skin’s surface, revealing a recognizably even, more vibrant tone. Aides decrease the appearance of pores and restoring balance to oily and dry patches of the skin and lessen the look of fine lines. Sounds very promising doesnt it? Comes packed in a sleek bottle looking like a million bucks and all. The only question that now remains is this. Does it work?

The answer, my friends, is no. Big fat no. This product is as useless as a birthday cake without sugar. Costly too, adding insult to injury. Just goes on to serve the lesson never to buy anything without first reading reviews.. and saying no to judging by appearances, because lets be honest it looks like a beauty product out of a Sci-fi movie but fails to do anything its supposed to.  As instructed on the box, i used it day and night for weeks…actually months. And the only thing i gained from this was the sticky, oily sensation of applying Vaseline all over your face.. wait no, at least Vaseline would make your skin’s texture softer after you wash it off. This would just sit on your face. I definitely do NOT recommend you waste your money and time on this product. It gets a zero out of ten.

Product Review; Studio Gear Cosmetics Hydrating CC Cream

Sponsered Post

20140430_033652

A few days back, i was asked to sample and review the new Hydrating CC cream from Studio Gear Cosmetics along with a few other products. This post is going to be a review about the CC cream as well as a brief introduction about the other products.

According to the website, Hydrating CC Cream transforms and enhances your complexion in an incredibly light, smooth formula. This foundation simultaneously fights aging, retains moisture, and covers and treats blemishes with a non-oily, perfectly radiant finish. Key Benefits include the prevention fine lines and wrinkles with collagen-building ingredients, restoration of skin elasticity by promoting moisture retention, and brightening and illumination of skin with a non-oily, complete coverage application.
I used this product in Natural shade as a part of my make up in order to attend a family dinner. Here’s the verdict.

Untitled

The hydrating CC cream is incredibly light weight and has a lotion-y consistency which helps spread it around easily before it turns thick as it is blended in. It provides a very soft, moisturized feeling to the skin throughout the wear. To add, it doesn’t clog pores and cleans off easily. As you can see, it goes on white, and then gains color as you spread it further.

kj

P.S Dont fret the color shown above. My face is tanner than the skin under my forearm.
Now, the bad. Although the CC cream is fit for casual day to day use, it has the tendency to wear off in a few hours. Its also not the best option if youre looking for serious coverage. A few light blemishes here and there are fine but it wont cover everything and youd have to resort to your concealer to take care of it.
All in all a so-so product. I definitely recommend it for use at a casual setting but dont count on it for anything you wanna look less than perfect for. The product retails at about $34 at the Studio Gear cosmetics website,  and is available in three shades, namely Linen, Natural, and Wheat.

Right now, you have the opportunity to try this product at a 10% discount by using the code bloggercc at checkout. You can find the Hydrating CC cream at the link provided here

I also had the opportunity to sample other Studio Gear products including the Studio Gear’s Impactful Mascara which retails for $18 and the Prime Objective face primer, retailing at about $30-35 on the Studio Gear website. Although i wasnt very impressed with the mascara, its safe to say that the Prime Objective face primer is my favorite product out of all the Studio Gear products i have tried so far.

Product Review; Paul Mitchell & The Truth About Curls

paul-mitchell-curls-ad-791x1024

Yes,  i know it has been forever since i last wrote a product review but here i am once again. This time im going to be reviewing Paul Mitchell’s collection for curls. As you know, Paul Mitchell is a recognized brand in the world of haircare. It currently produces over 100 products—from award-winning styling and care products to cutting-edge heat styling tools and professional hair color and is available in over 80 countries worldwide so i was very excited to get the opportunity to try it. I got this sample kit a while back last year when these had just recently released but didnt really get a chance to try until later. The kit included deluxe sized samples of their Spring Loaded Detangling Shampoo, Full Circle Leave In Treatment and Ultimate Wave Cream-Gel.

20130423_200908

Although the curls collection is made especially for curly girls, i found that it works quite well on wavy girls like yours truly. The key is to cut the recommended amount of product into half and spread it thoroughly so that the product doesnt weigh down your hair nor make it oily. The reason i decided to use it in the first place is that products for curly hair are usually more hydrating than those for wavy or straight hair and can do wonders for your hair if you adjust the amount properly.

Anyway, my favorite product out of the three i was sent would be a tie between the detangling shampo and the leave in conditioner. Though i was not impressed with the fragrance of the products, i was pleasantly surprised to find that they worked better than they smelt. The detangling shampoo was a life saver for my breakage-prone hair and the leave in conditioner took care of the fly aways and cow licks.

All products in this review are available at the Paul Mitchell website.

Product Review; BA Star Holiday Red Lip Pencil

Sponsered Post

Hello readers! Today im going to be doing a post about BA Star’s Holiday Red Lip Pencil. So we all know the holidays are just round the corner and what best way to update your look a little than by doing a bold lip and standing out from the crowd.

BA STAR is the #1 Performance Makeup! Sing, Dance, Strut, Perform- Shine Like a Star! especially with their long lasting Holiday Red Lip Pencil. Apply all over lips for the perfect Runway Red! Stays on all day! Just add glitter or gloss for extra shine to amp it up even more.

7errgDmSSk6wjW4cMcTF_Holiday Red Lip Pencil_LP100I got a sample of one of these babies to try and review. Must say, im quite impressed. Although the color is more Berry than red, the pigments are quite rich and suit my skin tone well. The texture is creamy but not sticky and the product has amazing staying power. I put it on in the morning and it lasted me until night without any touch ups. That’s some serious perseverance for a make up product.

OU3e2RKZQdyMOfbE49dj_IMG_2766c2

This is how to wear this lip color. First, cover lips with a bit of concealer. Outlined the shape of  lips with the help of a highlighter and concealer, then apply the product with a lip brush and simply blot away the excess. Finish with gloss for a hi-shine look or skip this step for a matte one.

Here’s what the color looks like. Notice how the color is much less drastic, wearable and softer as compared to the picture on the brand’s website.

Product Review; GO Ginger Face Moisturizer

20130423_195244

Today i am going to be reviewing Go Ginger Face Moisturizer from The Go Ginger People. I got a sample of this product through a promotion held on Go Ginger Skincare’s facebook page a while back. This product is available in full size on drugstore dot com for about  27 dollars.

After using this product for a week, i determined that its performance has been moderately satisfying at best. Its non greasy, absorbs into skin easily and makes it soft and smooth. Can be worn under makeup as well. And does not make your face oily.

That said, the biggest issue i have with this product.. and what i hate about it, is the smell… Yes.. the smell of ginger… Which by the way, does not fade easily. I think it would have been better if  the ginger people gone fragrance free with this and been content with only adding the nutritional effects of Ginger instead of its smell. I mean, who would want to smell like ginger? Who would be okay with going out in public smelling like ginger? Not me.

Overall in my experience, this product does its job. Alas, its disturbing smell overshadows all its good properties. I give this product a 5/10

Product Review; Olay Fresh Effects Facial Cleanser

20130530_024155

I received this sample of Olay Fresh Effects Shine Minimizing Facial Cleanser a while back. This cleanser is a part of the Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid! Powered Contour Cleansing System which also includes a facial cleansing brush and is available for $14 at drugstore dot com.  Didnt get a chance to try it but three days ago. This  I use it once in the morning and once before going to bed with my own cleansing spin brush.

It has a uniform, lotion-y consistency with a light scent. It foams up easily and you can feel it working on your face.  I have not seen any break through results by this product as yet but the shiny areas on my face like my T zone and chin dont seem to be getting as oily as before. Overall im quite satisfied with the results. I give this product a 7/10.

Other products in this line include: Olay Bead Me Up Exfoliating Cleanser, Olay S’wipe Out Makeup Removal Cloths and Olay BB Cream Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer.
