Product Review; H2O Sea Results day & night perfecting peel

Today’s product review is set to feature H2O’s day and night skin perfecting peel. After my wonderful experience with NaturalSkin Shop’s Jessner peel, i had definitely become a skin peel enthusiast. Though Jessner peel’s work is never short of fabulous, there’s only one down side to it. You have to wait a week for the treated skin to shed off completely and you are pretty much trapped in the house, hiding from the sun trying not to give your sensitive skin a burn. In trying to find a solution i came across this every day use peel on the H2O plus website. According to the brand, this product is a highly efficient liquid peel designed to tenderly refine skin’s surface, revealing a recognizably even, more vibrant tone. Aides decrease the appearance of pores and restoring balance to oily and dry patches of the skin and lessen the look of fine lines. Sounds very promising doesnt it? Comes packed in a sleek bottle looking like a million bucks and all. The only question that now remains is this. Does it work?

The answer, my friends, is no. Big fat no. This product is as useless as a birthday cake without sugar. Costly too, adding insult to injury. Just goes on to serve the lesson never to buy anything without first reading reviews.. and saying no to judging by appearances, because lets be honest it looks like a beauty product out of a Sci-fi movie but fails to do anything its supposed to.  As instructed on the box, i used it day and night for weeks…actually months. And the only thing i gained from this was the sticky, oily sensation of applying Vaseline all over your face.. wait no, at least Vaseline would make your skin’s texture softer after you wash it off. This would just sit on your face. I definitely do NOT recommend you waste your money and time on this product. It gets a zero out of ten.

Product Review; Paul Mitchell & The Truth About Curls

Yes,  i know it has been forever since i last wrote a product review but here i am once again. This time im going to be reviewing Paul Mitchell’s collection for curls. As you know, Paul Mitchell is a recognized brand in the world of haircare. It currently produces over 100 products—from award-winning styling and care products to cutting-edge heat styling tools and professional hair color and is available in over 80 countries worldwide so i was very excited to get the opportunity to try it. I got this sample kit a while back last year when these had just recently released but didnt really get a chance to try until later. The kit included deluxe sized samples of their Spring Loaded Detangling Shampoo, Full Circle Leave In Treatment and Ultimate Wave Cream-Gel.

Although the curls collection is made especially for curly girls, i found that it works quite well on wavy girls like yours truly. The key is to cut the recommended amount of product into half and spread it thoroughly so that the product doesnt weigh down your hair nor make it oily. The reason i decided to use it in the first place is that products for curly hair are usually more hydrating than those for wavy or straight hair and can do wonders for your hair if you adjust the amount properly.

Anyway, my favorite product out of the three i was sent would be a tie between the detangling shampo and the leave in conditioner. Though i was not impressed with the fragrance of the products, i was pleasantly surprised to find that they worked better than they smelt. The detangling shampoo was a life saver for my breakage-prone hair and the leave in conditioner took care of the fly aways and cow licks.

All products in this review are available at the Paul Mitchell website.

Product Review; GO Ginger Face Moisturizer

Today i am going to be reviewing Go Ginger Face Moisturizer from The Go Ginger People. I got a sample of this product through a promotion held on Go Ginger Skincare’s facebook page a while back. This product is available in full size on drugstore dot com for about  27 dollars.

After using this product for a week, i determined that its performance has been moderately satisfying at best. Its non greasy, absorbs into skin easily and makes it soft and smooth. Can be worn under makeup as well. And does not make your face oily.

That said, the biggest issue i have with this product.. and what i hate about it, is the smell… Yes.. the smell of ginger… Which by the way, does not fade easily. I think it would have been better if  the ginger people gone fragrance free with this and been content with only adding the nutritional effects of Ginger instead of its smell. I mean, who would want to smell like ginger? Who would be okay with going out in public smelling like ginger? Not me.

Overall in my experience, this product does its job. Alas, its disturbing smell overshadows all its good properties. I give this product a 5/10

Product Review; Olay Fresh Effects Facial Cleanser

I received this sample of Olay Fresh Effects Shine Minimizing Facial Cleanser a while back. This cleanser is a part of the Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid! Powered Contour Cleansing System which also includes a facial cleansing brush and is available for $14 at drugstore dot com.  Didnt get a chance to try it but three days ago. This  I use it once in the morning and once before going to bed with my own cleansing spin brush.

It has a uniform, lotion-y consistency with a light scent. It foams up easily and you can feel it working on your face.  I have not seen any break through results by this product as yet but the shiny areas on my face like my T zone and chin dont seem to be getting as oily as before. Overall im quite satisfied with the results. I give this product a 7/10.

Other products in this line include: Olay Bead Me Up Exfoliating Cleanser, Olay S’wipe Out Makeup Removal Cloths and Olay BB Cream Skin Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer.

Product Review; Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash

Hi peoples! So  i was asked to try a complimentary bottle of Ivory® 2-IN-1 Hair & Body Wash from Influenster a while back and i tell you.. If there has ever been a more practical combination of things than Peanut butter and jelly, this is it!

This Hair plus Body wash is perfect for the minimalist types that hate having clutter around. Also, its a great time saver. All you do is rinse, lather all around and rinse again! Less time in the shower equals more time to get to the thing you could have run late for.  Extra helpful if you have kids that are a handful in the tub too!  >_<

Anyway, the first thing i noticed about this product was the light and refreshing, oceanic scent which pretty much made me fall in love with it. The consistency of the wash is like that of a body lotion. It lathers up quickly and glides on all over the body with ease.

But i’ll admit, it does have some difficulty dealing with the hair. I did notice my hair felt a bit dry after using this product but i found a solution to that by using a  conditioner afterwards. All in all id give this product a 6 out of 10 for its practicality and convenience.

For those of you that prefer regular body wash, do check out this Ivory® digital short at the Influenster  Ivory® Video Page.

Also, dont forget to ‘like’ Ivory on Facebook.

Product Review; Philosophy’s ‘Take A Deep Breath’ Moisturizer

Todays review is about Philosophy’s moisturizer ‘take a deep breath’. I got this sample through Philosophy’s facebook page promotion a while back. My experience with this moisturizer was wonderful. Not only does it smell great, it does a very good job of absorbing into the skin and making it touchably soft. This is the best moisturizer to use before putting on makeup because it takes just about two minutes to completely vanish and its formula is very very light. It has a lotion-y consistency and glides over smoothly. Best for use in those dry, dry winters. Doesn NOT make your skin oily.. which for me is a big deal. The only downside of this product is the price. One full size tube of “‘take a deep breath” moisturizer costs roughly about 35 dollars so i wont be buying one for a while.. But, it was great while the sample tube lasted.. a job well done by Philosophy.

Product Review; Clairol Nice n Easy Non Permanent hair color

Hello readers! Today’s product review is about Clairol’s Nice n Easy non permanent hair dye in 78 medium golden brown. So i got this at a sale at a local grocery store for about 5 bucks.  My roots have been showing alot since the Purple disaster by feria, and i wanna grow it out a bit before going red so i opted for a non permanent brown color. This is what i found in the box..

Two bottles of color, a pair of white plastic gloves (not seen in the photo because i was already wearing them), a sachet of conditioner and instructions. I had to empty bottle number one into bottle number two, give it a few shakes and apply the foamy mixture on my hair. Also i had to wait about twenty minutes before rinsing off my hair and applying the conditioner to it.

The smell wasnt completely unbeaarable, i guess because this color is ammonia free. It was quite drippy and leaky too and i had to use four towels and a jar of vaseline to stay stain free. When i washed it off, my hair felt dangerously brittle but smoothed over after i applied and rinsed off the conditioner. Here’s a before and after pic of my hair..

Both pictures were taken without using flash. As you can see, my bright red streaks from before are gone and even though the color came out stronger than i expected, its still exceptional. There were some patches and missed grays though.. plus the dye has started to wear off now because it only lasts up to 29 or 28 shampoos but overall, i got what i paid for. Will i be using it again? Probably not. I prefer Permanent hair color.

i give this product a 5 out of 10.

Product review; Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse dry-oil

Got this multi purpose dry iol sample from Nuxe Paris a while ago and i absolutely LOVED it! Basically i use it on the dry skin of my feet, elbows, knees and hands before going to bed. Has no greasy feeling to it and absorbs within minutes. Works like a charm because i wake up with baby soft skin every single time. Also a great fix for those super humid days. Just dab a few drops on your palm and smooth away the frizzies into a sleek ponytail and say bye-bye to bad hair days. But what i especially love about this oil is the amber scent. Makes me feel classy and ladylike all day long. Priced at $46 at the Nuxe US website.

Product Review; Earth Naturals Hydra Mask sample

Hey guys. Sorry for taking such a long time to post again. I was sorta busy with my studies in the last few days but now ive finally found some time to work on my blog again. So without further ado, heres todays product review.

Last month i did a post on my worst experience with a skin care product as a requirement for a SheBlogs dot com sample. Well, this is what i received in my mail recently. A full sized jar of Hydra Mask by EarthNaturals. It is said to be infused with Apple stem cells, Aloe and chamomile extracts that repair and rejuvenate the skin. However it does not have any fruity scent or color. Looks like some plain old white colored goop, but settles in and becomes transparent once on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Once i washed it off with luke warm water, my skin felt really soft, clean and tight. My blackheads were gone and my pores were noticeably clearer and it also helped with some irritation that i was having on my cheeks. Now i use it atleast once a week to cleanse off my skin. Looks like Earth Naturals found another fan for their products =)

Product review; Freeman’s beauty Cucumber peel off mask

Bought it today at Walgreens for about four dollars. Has a nice, gel like tendency and a subtle cucumber scent. Apply a thick layer on a clean face avoiding the eye area and lips. Be careful not to get any on your eye brows. Leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes and peel off starting from the sides. Its not a very intensive deep cleansing product but its good as a pre mask treatment just to clean out the pores a bit more since it does take out some dead skin cells. For the price, i guess its not too shaby. But dont count on it too much. To make best use of this product, follow up with a mask from Montagne Jeunesse, which costs 5 for 5 dollars from the same pharmacy.
